On behalf of DHR Global, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Janice Crews, D.M.A. as Vice President for Arts Education & Community Engagement at the Peace Center (Greenville, SC). Dr. Crews brings a wealth of experience in arts education and community programming, most recently serving as Executive Director of the Brooks Center for the Performing Arts at Clemson University.

In her new role, Dr. Crews will lead the Peace Center’s educational initiatives and community outreach efforts, furthering the organization’s mission to enrich lives through the performing arts. Her appointment marks a significant step in expanding the Peace Center’s impact across the Upstate region. Dr. Crews joins the Peace Center during a significant period of growth. The Center is nearing completion of a $36 million renovation and expansion project, adding two new venues to the 6-acre, multi-venue arts and entertainment campus.
At Clemson University, Dr. Crews was instrumental in developing innovative programming and fostering partnerships that connected students and the broader community with the performing arts. Her leadership at the Brooks Center was marked by a commitment to accessibility, creativity, and excellence.
“I am honored to join the Peace Center team,” said Dr. Crews. “This organization has long been a beacon for the arts in our region, and I look forward to building on its strong foundation to create meaningful educational experiences for learners of all ages.”
Before joining Clemson, Dr. Crews served as the Director of the Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts (CECA) at Austin Peay State University from 2017. In that role, she managed over 100 events annually and led the Community School of the Arts, while also launching an arts experience grant program that reached more than 12,000 K–12 students. Dr. Crews has also held leadership roles in education and outreach with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Charleston Symphony Orchestra, and has been a teaching artist and professional oboist performing throughout the U.S., Mexico, and Brazil. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Oboe Performance.
Dr. Crews officially assumed her new position in June 2025.
