Katie Schafer selected as Territory Executive, Greater New York at Breakthrough T1D

On behalf of DHR Global's Nonprofit Practice, I'm delighted to announce the appointment of Katie Schafer as Territory Executive, Greater New York at Breakthrough T1D.

Katie brings over 14 years of nonprofit leadership experience from the American Cancer Society, where she most recently served as Executive Director of Development for the Long Island market. In that role, she led high-performing fundraising teams and spearheaded major regional initiatives, strengthening partnerships across healthcare and community organizations.

In her new role, Katie will lead fundraising programs, community partnerships, and strategic initiatives to support Breakthrough T1D’s mission to accelerate life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent, and treat type 1 diabetes (T1D). The Greater New York territory includes New York City, key markets in Upstate and Western New York, as well as Fairfield County, CT. 

“I’m honored to join Breakthrough T1D and lead efforts in the Greater New York area,” said Katie. “I’m inspired by the organization’s mission and its talented staff and volunteers, and I look forward to working alongside this incredible team.”

Katie will officially begin her role in July 2025.
